We are honored to announce that Franken Construction has won the AGC Best Buildings New Mexico award in the $2.5M-$5M category for our work on the UNM Olympic Sports Training Facility with McClain + Yu Architecture & Design.
This 11,300-square-foot training center, located in the South End Zone of University Stadium, is a state-of-the-art facility supporting UNM Division 1 and Olympic athletes. The center is split into two levels: a 9,774-square-foot weight training floor and a 1,538-square-foot cardio mezzanine with views of the UNM Lobos football field.
The new facility replaces an outdated temporary structure, providing ample space and advanced systems for athletic training. Designed to accommodate multiple teams simultaneously, the center also enables UNM’s medical and athletic training staff to utilize the latest technology in injury prevention and rehabilitation. This motivating environment is crafted to help student-athletes maintain their physical health and compete at the highest levels.
In addition to its training capabilities, the facility features a ceremonial pathway that the Lobos use to enter the playing field on game days, adding a special touch to the athletes’ experience. The UNM Olympic Sports Training Facility stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation in construction.
Winning the AGC Best Buildings New Mexico award is a reflection of our dedication to quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
