UNM Lobo Welcome Center Wins AGC Best Building 2025 in the $5M-$10M Category

Franken Construction is proud to announce that we’ve been recognized by the Associated General Contractors of New Mexico (AGC NM) for our work on the UNM Lobo Welcome Center & Yale Gateway project. This exceptional facility earned the AGC Best Buildings Award in the $5 million to $10 million category, a testament to the collaborative efforts and innovation that brought this space to life.

Welcoming the Future of UNM

Located at the main gateway to campus, the Lobo Welcome Center represents a bold reimagining of how the University of New Mexico engages with prospective students and visitors. The project blends new construction and renovation, seamlessly tying together architecture, branding, and functionality to create a dynamic first impression for anyone stepping onto UNM’s campus.

Working in close partnership with the University of New Mexico, McClain + Yu Architects, and Testudo Engineering, Franken Construction served as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for this award-winning project.

Built with Purpose and Pride

This award reflects the dedication of our project team and the strong collaboration between design, engineering, and construction professionals. From the earliest planning stages to final walkthroughs, every detail of the Lobo Welcome Center was approached with precision, creativity, and care. The result is a space that not only meets the university’s vision but also sets a new standard for campus engagement.

Building Beyond Expectations

From the inviting lobby and multimedia displays to its strategic layout and striking design elements, the Lobo Welcome Center is more than a building—it’s a statement. This award reaffirms Franken Construction’s ongoing commitment to delivering impactful spaces that serve both form and function.
