Franken Construction Transforms UNM Popejoy Hall Lobby

Franken Construction recently completed a major renovation of the University of New Mexico’s Popejoy Hall Lobby, transforming the entrance of one of the state’s premier performing arts venues.

Working with Hartman + Majewski Design Group and UNM Facilities, our team executed a swift yet comprehensive renovation that debuted in October 2024, just in time for the new Popejoy Presents season.

The goal was to enhance the patron experience and improve accessibility without disrupting the hall’s historic importance. Our work delivered key upgrades:

• Expanded and Brighter Space: The lobby now features a larger footprint and improved lighting, creating a more welcoming environment.
• Enhanced Accessibility: We improved navigation with enhanced signage and installed a newly added family restroom on the second floor, a crucial upgrade for all patrons.
• A Modern Welcome: By seamlessly executing the renovation over the summer months, Franken Construction ensured that this cultural cornerstone now offers a modern, accessible, and high-quality experience before the curtain even rises.
